General

The style of record keeping seems to have evolved over time, so a few notes might make this collection more useful. The first years (1891-1937) give the attendance and collection totals for each class. Some of the earliest years (1891-1902) give the names and addresses of all the enrolled students in the beginning of the book, the later years (1902-1937) do so in the back of the book with less regularity. Found in boxes 1-6 of this collection.

Beginning in 1938, the record keeping systems shifted to “The Covenant Graded Lessons: Secretary’s Record Book” which lists attendance numbers without names (1938-1946) and are found in boxes 7 and 8 of this collection. These likely correlate to the “Covenant Graded Lessons” found in boxes 11-13 of this collection.

Records were also maintained on the individual level (1923-1938); boxes 9 and 10 contain “Sunday School Class Books” which give names and attendance for individual students. These books are largely undated. They were once rubber banded together by year, but the bands dissolved and though care was taken in sorting the materials, the dates of individual booklets are somewhat uncertain. • Similarly, boxes 11-13 contain the class books that correspond with the ‘Covenant Graded Lessons’ (1938-1947). Again, the dates are somewhat uncertain.
