Biographical / Historical
The East Coast Conference was first known as the Easter Missionary Association. It began in 1885, by Swedish immigrants who were a part of the Missions Friends Society. The Eastern Missionary Association became known as the East Coast Conference in between the years of 1959-1960. They were starting to make the name change in the year of 1959, still calling it the Eastern Missionary Association. It wasn’t until in 1960 when the name at the Annual meeting changed from Eastern Missionary Association to the East Coast Conference. Despite the name change the conference did not change its mission. They highly believe in the movement of God of the mission: Multiply congregations create new churches, connect churches in community with another, coaching pastors and church leaders, and empowering leaders to build trustworthy Christian leadership. It contains twelve east coast states and the District of Columbia, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Eastern New York, New Jersey, Eastern Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware and Virginia.
