Biographical / Historical
Records of Covenant Youth of America (CYA) exist as far back as 1923. Leadership of the organization was made up of denominational representatives from the Youth Department, and selected young people from around the country. CYA prepared many publications for devotional readings (samples included), and to cover current topics such as citizenship, outreach, socials, special days, fellowship, etc. The organization held area conferences at various churches and camps around the United States (meeting minutes included). Covenant Hi-Congress (It was first referred to as Quadrennial in 1937, and in 1977 this is referred to in the Covenant Yearbook for the first time as CHIC.), major national conferences which attracted hundreds of young people, began in 1933 and were held every four years. (During WWII the conference was postponed until 1946. In the 1950s through the early 1970s, CYA also organized and led international youth assembly tours. (See International Youth Assembly.)
