Biographical / Historical
In 1979, Ed Train began meeting with three families (the Fetalcos, Lofgrens and Wenstrands) in Glendale Heights and marked the tentative foundation of Christ Evangelical Covenant Church with Marvin Jensen called as pastor in 1981. At this time the church was meeting at Blackhawk School in Glendale Heights but moved in 1982 to Craft Middle School, also in Glendale Heights. Eventually, in 1989 the church moved its services again to Evergreen School in Carol Stream and welcomed Timothy Drake as their new pastor. After another new pastor was initiated (Craig Swanson) the church was once again forced to move to Benjamin Middle School in West Chicago but by 1997 yet another new pastor was attained (Tim Lahaan) and services were held in the Christ Church of the Brethren in Carol Stream. Once again the church had to move its place of worship to Spring Trail School near Elgin in 1998 and began to search for property of their own. Sadly, that property was never developed—the congregation decided to close the church in April of 1999 and held its last service on May 23, 1999.
