Biographical / Historical
The June 26 Group (also known as 6/26 or even 626) began in 1996 in response to a resolution passed by the ECC. The “Resolution on Human Sexuality” prompted a group of Covenanters to meet and establish a forum for discussion. The grass-roots movement was referred to as “Welcoming Evangelical Covenanters: A fellowship of gay and lesbian Christians and their friends” in an undated draft statement of affirmations. It was referred to as the June 26 group or the like in most subsequent papers.
