Biographical / Historical
Edward G. Nelson was born on February 5, 1914, in New Britain, Connecticut. Before entering the ministry, he received his early Christian education at Bethany Covenant Church in New Britain, Connecticut. He enrolled in North Park Junior College in 1934 and received his diploma in 1936. He then continued his education at North Park Theological Seminary from 1936-1940 and was ordained in 1943 by the Evangelical Covenant Church. He married Mildred Nelson on October 27, 1943 in Rockford, Illinois. They have two children, Mary and Thomas. Nelson became a missionary to White Mountain, Alaska from 1945-1946. He then served in Siangyang, Hupels(?), Chungking(?), Szechuan(?), and Hong Kong, China from 1946-1949. His missionary career continued in Tokyo and Kozu, Japan from 1949-1951. He then became a missionary in Taipei, Taiwan from 1952-1960. From 1960-1971, he served as pastor for the Covenant Church in Manchester, New Hampshire. In 1953, he wrote a book entitled, China in Your Blood. His date of death is currently unknown.
