Biographical / Historical

Covenant Youth Today continues Youth Today. From 1948-1954, Youth Today was published jointly by the Covenant Book Concern and the Baptist Conference Press; in 1954, the Covenant Book Concern began publishing this paper without the Baptist Conference and the title was changed to reflect a more direct Covenant audience. For a long period, Covenant Youth Today had a circulation near twenty thousand and the 1961 yearbook reports that Covenant Youth Today "is being used by more than 90 per cent of our Sunday schools." However, despite the high readership, the economic reality wasn't always positive and the publication was cancelled in 1965. The 1965 annual report cites "continually increasing production costs and declining circulation" as the reasons for its demise and laments "this is being done very reluctantly."
