Biographical / Historical

In 1930, the North Park College News announced a new “all-school” poets’ club with the official name the “Pegasus Club” (at times known as the society); it published an annual anthology of creative writing from 1930 to 1969. In the early years of the publication, poetry appeared in both English and Swedish, a remnant of the bi-lingual culture of the school’s immigrant founders. The first issue was released on May 19, 1930 at 25 cents a copy with prepaid orders exceeding one hundred. The Student Association took over publication of Pegasus in the late 1960s but it was published only sporadically, apparently because of lack of student submissions. After a five year absence, the publication returned as the North Branch in the spring of 1975.
