William Hausman's North Park presidential robe, 1980

Synthetic robe with velvet and piping. Blue synthetic robe with black velvet trim and gold piping; From Hausman's donation letter (see accession files): "The robe was purchased by North Park in the summer of 1980 prior to my inauguration, which was the first time it was worn. Because I did not come to North Park with a doctoral robe, I chose to have one created that would be reflective of North Park's colors rather than those of any institution from which I had received a degree. It was worn for all academic events during my tenure and on a couple of occasions when I represented North Park at installations/inaugurations at other institutions of higher education. I believe I wore it when I returned to the campus for the graduation of our daughter (Valerie), for the inaugurations of David Horner and David Parkyn and perhaps for the rededication ceremony for Old Main, but you would need to check photographs from those occasions to confirm, or refute, my fading memory! On no other occasion did I wear the robe after my departure from North Park in 1986.".
