Biographical / Historical

"Folkdanslaget National," or Swedish Folkdancers, was a traditional Swedish dance troupe that was founded in 1923 and was active until 1963. The purpose of the organization was to promote Swedish Folk Dancing and to preserve the tradition of the Swedish Folk Costume, according to their bylaws. The group performed at Swedish and international cultural events in the Chicago area. The group was directed at one point by Harold O. Henning.
Funding to migrate and update this finding aid was provided by the Swedish Council of America through the 2019 grant "Improving and Expanding Access to the Swedish–American Archives of Greater Chicago."
