Olof Gottfrid Lange Papers
Scope and Contents
The Olof Gottfrid Lange Papers contains the manuscript of his unfinished autobiography (1882-83), an English translation of the autobiography by Alma Lindblom (no date), and the book Life, Letters, and Posthumous Works of Fredrika Bremer (1868) presented to Lange by its editor Charlotte Bremer in 1869.

Biographical / Historical
Olof Gottfrid Lange (1811-93) was called "the first Swede in Chicago." He arrived in Chicago on September 18, 1838 as a 27-year-old sailor and settled permanently in the city in 1860.
