Scope and Contents
Relating to the Bishop Hill Colony in western Illinois, this collection contains correspondence, notes and an on‑site visit report made by Olov Isaksson, Director of the National Museum of Antiquities, Stockholm, Sweden, with regard to the restoration of Colony buildings and the preservation of the Colony's material culture. Also included are correspondence, notes and photostats of various documents used by Paul Elmen in researching his book on Erik Jansson, Wheat Flour Messiah (1976); a copy of an unpublished guide to the microfilmed Bishop Hill Colony and Post Colony Papers (1843‑1905); and a folder of photographs of Bishop Hill settlers.
